Andy responded quickly to our message and arrived when he said he would on Sunday to try to fix our door. Due to age and trickiness (we have had a few people to tend to it over the years)he had to return today. He arrived at the time he said he would and persevered patiently with our tricky door, replacing the lock mechanism and working on the door so that it opens better now than when it was first fitted a good few years ago. He was polite, profressional and clearly had a lot of knowledge. I definitely recommend him.

What is a Mortice Lock?

A Mortice Lock Repair is a type of door lock that is installed into the edge of a door rather than onto its face. This locking device has been used in homes, businesses and other buildings for centuries, offering added security and protection against intruders. It can be found on both interior and exterior doors, providing an extra layer of safety.

When it comes to repairing or replacing a mortice lock, it is important to choose an experienced locksmith who specialises in this type of service. An experienced professional will be able to assess the damage done to the mortice lock and make any necessary repairs or replacements quickly and accurately. They will also provide advice about how best to secure the door with another type of locking system if needed.

Step 1: Remove Casing

A mortice lock is an essential security measure for any property. It is a type of lock that requires a key to open and can be used on both external and internal doors. Installing a mortice lock is relatively straightforward, but there are some important steps you need to take before removing the casing.

Firstly, it’s important to check that the door frame is compatible with your chosen mortice lock. The frame should have enough space for the body of the lock as well as enough room for screws to attach it securely in place. Once you’re sure of this, then you can begin by unscrewing the existing unit from the door using either a screwdriver or drill. Next, disconnect any wires connected to your old lock before taking off its casing completely.

Step 2: Remove Parts

A mortice lock is an important security feature used on many doors and windows. It is a type of lock that requires a key for entry, and works by inserting the key into the cylinder which then turns to unlock or open the door or window. This type of lock can be found in both residential and commercial applications.

The primary components of a mortice lock consist of two parts – the lock body itself, which is fitted into the edge of a door or frame, and the forend plate, which covers any visible parts of the locking mechanism. By removing these two parts, access can be gained to remove further components such as screws and spindles in order to take apart the entirety of the mortice sash lock. It is important however that all pieces are remembered when reassembling it so it functions properly afterwards.

Step 3: Replace Parts

A mortice deadlock is a type of door lock that is typically used on internal doors. It consists of two main parts; the lock body, which is housed within the door, and the faceplate, which is fitted onto the outside of the door. The lock body contains an internal mechanism and latchbolt which interacts with a key in order to open and close the door.

The most common type of mortice locks are those operated by a cylinder key or lever handle from the outside. Cylinder keys are easily recognisable as they resemble traditional house keys and have grooves along their length. Lever handles come in various designs and can be used for either left or right hand doors depending on your preference.

If your mortice lock has become damaged or worn over time it can be replaced with ease. Mortice locks often have anti drill plates to protect against drill attacks and anti picking protection.

Step 4: Reattach Casing

A mortice lock is a type of door lock that is installed into the edge of a door. It consists of two main parts: the lock body and the cylinder, which are both housed within a metal casing. This metal casing, or ‘lock case’, can be removed from the edge of the door when needed in order to reattach it.

Union mortice locks offer added security compared to other types of locks, such as deadbolt and rim latch locks. The internal mechanisms are positioned on each side of the door’s edge, making them difficult to pick or force open without specialist tools or knowledge. As an extra measure for added security, most mortice locks have hardened steel pins which prevent them from being drilled out.

Step 5: Test Lock

A mortice lock, often referred to as a test lock, is a type of door lock that is used in residential and commercial buildings for security purposes. It is typically installed on a door where the edge meets the frame or jamb and is usually concealed from view. Three lever mortice locks are some of the most secure mechanisms available and are generally made up of several components including a faceplate, spindle, forend, latchbolt and keys.

The main component of any mortice lock is its cylinder which houses the mechanism required to operate it. This cylinder consists of several pins that need to be vertically aligned by inserting the correct key before it can be opened or closed. Once all pins have been correctly aligned, the cylinder can then rotate freely so that when turned in either direction it will open or close the latch bolt in order to open or secure your doors respectively.

Repairing a Mortice Lock

A 5 lever mortice lock is a type of door lock that is often used in the home and office environment. It requires a deep pocket, or mortice, to be cut into the door through which the lock body is fitted. The mortice lock typically consists of two parts; an interior side latch mechanism and an exterior key operated deadlock.

Repairing an ERA mortice lock can be a tricky job for those with little knowledge about locksmithing. However, if you know what you’re doing it’s possible to repair them yourself without needing professional assistance. Firstly, remove the screws from either side of your door frame to take out the existing mortar lockset from its housing. Some models will require you to use a screwdriver in order to remove them but most should come away easily by hand.

What is Mortice Lock Repair?

Mortice locks are one of the most common types of locks used in homes, offices and other buildings. They are known for their durability and security features, making them a popular choice among property owners. However, like any other type of lock, mortice locks can also become damaged or worn over time. This is where mortice lock repair comes into play.

Mortice lock repair involves fixing any damage or wear to the lock mechanism so that it functions properly again. This may include replacing broken parts, tightening loose screws or lubricating moving parts. In some cases, a locksmith may need to completely disassemble the lock in order to identify and fix the problem.

It is important to have your mortice locks repaired as soon as possible if you notice any issues with their function. A damaged or faulty mortice lock can leave your property vulnerable to break-ins and thefts.
