You may have heard of a common method that burglars use in the Leeds area called lock snapping. This is a method well known by west yorkshire police. This is essentially where thieves use mole grips to snap your lock cylinders out of your doors. Many standard cylinder locks have no anti snap features and are therefore very easy for criminals to snap out. Mortice Dead Lock Fitting On Wooden Doors

We provide mortice lock installation for customers which have wooden doors. Many wooden doors already have a mortice sash lock in the middle which the handle and key controls to lock and unlock the door. We can also however install additional mortice locks known as deadlocks. These are similar to a sash lock, however the only difference is that they are no controlled by the door handle in any way, only by the key.

These can be fitted as the top and bottom of your wooden door to help give strength against brute force attacks. One common method of breaking into wooden doors is by simply kicking the door in. This is harder to do with a UPVC door, as most have a multi point lock, which, as the name suggests, locks at multiple points on the door. However most wooden doors only have one wooden mortice lock in the middle meaning the door is more at risk from brute force attacks. We like to installed ERA branded mortice locks as these contain 5 levers inside. 5 lever mortice locks are what insurance providers often require to be fitted on your doors.

Some people often use 3 lever mortice locks instead of 5. These are perfectly fine for internal doors such as bedrooms etc. However 3 lever mortice locks should not be used on external doors as they will almost certainly invalidate your insurance policy. Our mortice locks are high quality, antipick locks which hardened anti drill plates and anti pick technology. Alongside Birmingham bars we can also install internal bolt locks. These allow the occupant to lock the bolts internally when they are inside the property. The advantage of bolt locks is that they can only be opened from the inside. There is no key hole to open them from the outside which makes it impossible to pick. This of course means that this locks can only be locked from the inside while the occupant is still inside the house.

These work in a similar way to bolts in that they can only be opened from the inside and are not accessible from the outside.
