Andy responded quickly to our message and arrived when he said he would on Sunday to try to fix our door. Due to age and trickiness (we have had a few people to tend to it over the years)he had to return today. He arrived at the time he said he would and persevered patiently with our tricky door, replacing the lock mechanism and working on the door so that it opens better now than when it was first fitted a good few years ago. He was polite, profressional and clearly had a lot of knowledge. I definitely recommend him.

How to deter burglars?

Here are a few tips on how to deter burglars from targeting your home. Its’ unfortunate that Leeds & Yorkshire are one of the most crime ridden areas in the U.K. Leeds council actually gave out thousands of three star locks to the local residents in an attempt to prevent lock snapping and break ins.

One option which we like is to buy a tv light. This is a type of security light

which mimics the light of a standard tv. This automatically comes on at night time when the lights go out and flickers light. From the outside this really does look like somebody is awake at night watching the TV. If a burglar thinks that somebody is in and awake this are extremely unlikely to try and break into your house

Another option could be to install what’s known as a Birmingham bar This is a type of security bar which acts as a reinforcement to the door frame. It essentially helps to protect against forced attacks where the criminal simply try’s to break into the property by kicking the door down. These are extremely low cost solutions and are ideal on wooden doors.

Some people like to upgrade their locks to anti-snap locks which is another great method to prevent break ins in Leeds. Recently we attended a property in the Pudsey LS28 where an old lady had been broken into after her lock had been snapped out. We immediately replaced her broken lock with a high quality anti-snap lock to prevent break ins again.

Door chains can be a good option for security and preventing break ins. We provide a door chain fitting service where we supply and fit door chains to your door. Door chains help to protect against brute force attacks whereby the criminal simply knocks on the door and waits for the occupant to open the door.

Often in these situations the criminal will simply push or kick the door in order to overpower the occupant inside. A door chain helps to to protect against the criminal been able to force the door open.

Prevent Break In Tips

As 24/7 locksmiths we are always available to come and secure your property after a break in. Sometimes it can be a good tip to have CCTV installation installed at your property in order to put criminals off breaking into your home.

Having CCTV lets potential criminals know that you take your security seriously and most likely having other security systems inside too. CCTV systems can be expensive to install so for those on a budget there are other options. One option is to have dummy CCTV systems installed. These give the criminal the appearance that you have a CCTV system without the high cost.

Home Invasion Prevention

One simple tip which we have started to recommend to prevent home invasion and break ins is to have a simply door ring cam. This is essentially a doorbell which also acts as a security camera. With the ring app, this allows you to connect the camera to your phone and automatically see who is outside your door before you open it.

This is a great way to prevent brute force attacks as you can check to see who is outside the door prior to opening it. Ring door cameras really are worth their weight in gold. We can install these cameras for you if you like, however they are very easy to install yourself if you give it a try.

Another product we often install are letterbox guards which help to prevent criminals from putting rods through your letterbox and fishing your keys out of the letterbox. This allows letters to come in but prevents thieves from putting their hands or tools through your letterbox.

Crime Prevention Advice

In Leeds crime is on the rise. One of the most simple and easiest methods of preventing burglars from breaking into your home is by not leaving expensive items on display. This may sound like boring advice and something which your parents would say however it is true.

Don’t leave your xbox or laptops on display. This acts as temptation for theifs and many opportunists will break in to steal it. Criminals often break in unplanned simply after spotting something of value which they would like to steal. Ideally anything of value should be fitted into a safe so you should have a safe installed in your property.

And finally, a good tip is to have deadbolts installed internally on your door. These are locks which can only be locked from the inside and designed to be used when you lock up at night to go to sleep. These of course offer no protection when going out of the property as they cannot be locked.

However, when inside the property they offer great protection. This is because they cannot be picked or snapped (as they physically can’t be accessed from the outside). So there you go, that concludes are tips of how to prevent break ins at your home, hope you enjoyed it.

British Standard Locks

Burglaries can be a devastating experience, but luckily there are measures you can take to protect yourself and your home. One of the most effective ways to keep burglars out is by installing British Standard locks.

British Standard locks are rated for their security strength, with BS 3621 being the highest rating given by the British Standards Institution (BSI). This means that any lock carrying this certification has undergone rigorous testing to ensure that it is practically impossible to break into or bypass. Additionally, many insurance companies will require you to have at least one British Standard lock in order to receive full coverage.

By having these locks installed on all of your external doors and windows, you’ll be able to rest easy knowing that your property is secure and protected from potential intruders.

Types: 5 Lever, 3 Star, CEN

Burglary prevention is an important part of keeping a home or business safe. There are various types of locks that can be used to prevent burglars from gaining access, ranging from basic lever locks to more sophisticated CEN certified options.

One type of lock that is often recommended for burglary prevention is 5 lever mortice locks. These locks work by having a series of levers within the lock body that must be lifted in order for the key to turn and open the door. They are an effective deterrent as they require additional force and tools to pick the lock, making it difficult for burglars to gain access quickly.

Another option is 3 star cylinder locks, which provide an extra layer of security as they come with three keys that must be inserted simultaneously into three different parts of the cylinder in order for it to open.

History of British Standard Locks

Burglary Prevention is an important issue for households, businesses and public places. Having the right security measures in place can help to deter any potential intruders and protect possessions from being stolen or damaged. One of the most effective methods of burglary prevention is having a British Standard lock fitted on all external doors.

A British Standard lock is one that meets the requirements set out in BS3621: 2004, which has been the standard since 2004. This type of lock was first introduced in Britain during the Victorian era and has since evolved into a highly secure system for protecting homes and businesses. The lock must be accompanied by two keys which are keyed alike so that they can be used together to open it. It also features 5 pin cylinders with anti-pick mechanisms to prevent access using non-key tools, such as credit cards or paperclips.

Benefits of Using British Standard Locks

Burglary prevention is essential to ensure the safety and security of any residential or commercial property. The use of British standard locks has many benefits which make them an ideal choice for anyone looking to improve their security system. Not only do these locks provide enhanced protection against forced entry, but they also offer additional convenience and peace of mind for the homeowner or business owner.

British standard locks are virtually impossible to pick, making them a much more secure option than traditional keyed-entry systems. Furthermore, these locks can be purchased with various levels of security ranging from basic models to high-security versions which feature multiple locking points and anti-drill plates that make it incredibly difficult for an intruder to gain access. In terms of convenience, British standard locks can be operated using either a key or a combination code depending on the model chosen.

Security Levels of British Standard Locks

Burglary is a serious concern for many homeowners, and one of the most important steps in preventing it is to secure their homes with locks. It is important to understand the security levels of British Standard locks and how they protect against burglary.

British Standard Locks are rated according to their security level. Level 1 locks are designed for basic protection such as on internal doors, while Level 6 offers superior protection for external doors or windows. The higher the number, the more secure the lock. Higher levels offer increased strength against picking and drilling attempts as well as other forms of attack. For example, Level 6 locks feature hardened steel inserts that cannot be drilled into or removed by force alone – making them an ideal choice for high-risk areas such as front doors or garages.

How to Fit & Replace British Standard Locks

Preventing burglary is an important priority for homeowners. Fitting and replacing good quality British Standard locks is one of the most effective ways of achieving this goal. In this article, we will explain how to fit and replace British Standard locks in order to help protect your property from would-be burglars.

British Standard locks are widely regarded as the best available on the market today and they should be fitted to all external doors, windows, garages and garden sheds. When fitting a new lock or replacing an existing one, it is essential that you use a professional locksmith who can provide you with advice on which type of lock will be most suitable for your property and level of security required. The locksmith will also be able to fit the correct size of lock depending on the thickness of your door or window frame.

Burglary prevention is an important part of keeping your home and possessions safe. Taking precautionary steps can help to deter burglars from targeting a specific house, making it less likely that you will become the victim of a break-in. By following some basic safety tips, homeowners can significantly reduce their chances of being targeted by burglars and increase the security of their home.

It is important to remember that no single measure can guarantee absolute protection from burglary; however, implementing various measures may offer multiple levels of protection. Homeowners should consider installing motion-activated lights outside their property and securing doors and windows with heavy locks or chains. Installing alarm systems or surveillance cameras may also be beneficial in deterring potential criminals. Additionally, it is advised that homeowners remain aware of their surroundings when leaving home or entering after dark, as these are prime times for criminal activity to occur.

Home Security Systems

If you’re concerned about the security of your home, you may want to consider hiring a locksmith to install a home security system. These systems can provide an added layer of protection and peace of mind for homeowners. With advanced technology and various types of equipment available today, a locksmith can help design and install the perfect system that meets your specific needs.

One popular type of home security system is an alarm system. This type of system uses sensors placed on doors and windows to detect when they are opened or closed. If an intruder attempts to enter your home, the alarm will sound, alerting you and potentially scaring away the intruder. Other options for home security systems include surveillance cameras, smart locks with keyless entry, and motion sensor lights outside your home.

A locksmith can also help with other aspects of home security besides just installing a new system.

Outdoor Surveillance

Are you concerned about the security of your home or business? If so, it may be time to consider installing outdoor surveillance cameras. While a good lock on your doors and windows can help deter intruders, it is often not enough. Outdoor surveillance cameras provide an extra layer of protection by allowing you to monitor any activity outside of your property.

With today’s technology, outdoor surveillance cameras are more affordable and accessible than ever before. Many systems allow you to view live footage from anywhere in the world using a smartphone app. This means that even if you’re away from home or out of town, you can still keep an eye on your property and ensure that everything is safe and secure.

A professional locksmith can help recommend the best type of outdoor surveillance system for your specific needs. They can also assist with installation, ensuring that the system is properly set up and configured for optimal performance.

Motion Detectors

Locksmith services are the go-to for people who require assistance with locks, keys, and security systems. One of the most popular security features that locksmiths install is motion detectors. Motion detectors are essential in providing maximum protection against theft or unauthorized entry into your property.

These devices work by detecting movement within a specified range and triggering an alarm to alert homeowners of potential danger. With the help of a locksmith, homeowners can choose from a wide variety of motion detector options such as infrared, microwave, and ultrasonic sensors to suit their specific needs. In addition to being an excellent deterrent for burglars, motion detectors also provide peace of mind knowing that your property is secure at all times.

Choosing the right locksmith service provider is crucial when it comes to installing motion detectors. An experienced and reputable locksmith will not only help you choose the right device but also ensure that it’s installed correctly for optimal performance.

Lighting Up Your Home

As a locksmith, we understand the crucial role that lighting plays in securing your home. Not only does proper lighting deter burglars from targeting your home, but it also helps you navigate through your property safely at night. In this article, we’ll be discussing the importance of lighting up your home and how to do it effectively.

The first step in lighting up your home is to assess the areas that need the most attention. This includes places like entrances and pathways leading up to your front door or garage. You can install motion sensor lights or even smart lights that can be controlled through an app on your phone for added convenience and security. Additionally, installing outdoor lights with timers can give off the impression that someone is always at home, deterring potential intruders. Indoor lighting is equally as important as outdoor lighting when it comes to securing your property.

Secure Your Home

Home security is a crucial aspect of living in today’s world. With the increasing number of burglaries, thefts, and home invasions happening every day, it has become imperative to take measures to ensure the safety of our homes and families. One such measure is hiring a locksmith to secure your home.

A locksmith can help you assess your current level of security and suggest improvements based on your specific needs. They can install high-security locks, reinforce doors and windows, and even set up sophisticated security systems that include alarm systems and surveillance cameras. By hiring a professional locksmith, you can rest assured that your home is protected against intruders and potential threats.
